Source Reliance
Enterprise-Wide Change Tracking
Tracking every change made to all projects in all databases across the enterprise and being able to organize and use that data is critical to your development process. You must have complete traceability of all changes in order to effectively manage your development activity and understand the status of your projects.
Source Reliance provides complete enterprise-wide change tracking using Change Sets. Change Sets are simply a way of recording, grouping, and organizing changes made in the system. Change Sets collect change activity, such as file check ins, project and file renames, project and file additions and deletions, etc. When the change activity is created, such as when you perform a merge of a group of changes from one branch to another, you can associate a Change Set in which to record the change activity. You can associate any amount of activity with a given Change Set, and you can associate related Change Sets together.
Change Sets provide an easy way to collect, organize, and interrogate information about the activity in your projects. With Change Sets you can see all activity that has occurred in all databases across the enterprise from the highest level all the way down to a single line of code. They allow you to immediately answer questions like "what are all the changes that were made to fix bug 2553 across all files, projects, subcomponents, and databases in the entire enterprise?". Change Sets allow you to do such things as quickly determine scope of effort for testing and post-mortem analysis, review all changes made regarding regressed bugs, and perform forensic analysis to determine the cause of new issues. And with Source Reliance's workflow integration capabilities, you can easily associate change content in your other workflow systems such as your issue tracking and project management software. Change Sets are powerful, easy to use, and provide complete traceability of your development activity.
